To install programme
There are two versions of the demo on this disc.
Powermac accelerated (2.8 PowerMac)
and normal Mac (Mac demo)
Copy the appropriate contents onto your hard disc.
Double click on PhotoFix™ programme icon
The powerMac version is set to 6Mb of Ram, the mac Version 4Mb. To change, simply click once on the programme icon, choose "get info" from the file menu. Change the Prefered memory to your choice (note the minimum) close the window and double click to launch. (you must do this with the programme closed)
This will set the programme up and allow full use, excepting the save and import filter functions are disabled. Print outs will have a line in the centre. Check out the browser/catalogue that is also contained. The file PhotoFix images Catalogue shows a catalogue of the images supplied on the disc. These are supplied in two mid range resolutions, use the 384 x 256 for casual use. The larger 768 x 512 files are more detailed, but require more memory. (See User guide for more info)
The full version contains normal and accelerated PowerMac versions and comes with a free CD containing 100 royalty free images.
The programme can function with a minimum of 1.5Mb Ram. 2.5Mb is OK. Optimum performance at 6Mb. This can be set by clicking once on the programme icon and then from FILE menu choose GET INFO. PREFERRED SIZE will determine amount of allocated RAM. If you have the programme opened, quit and reload to effect any change.
The functions and commands are very intuitive, as is the built in browser facility. Many will be familiar to users of image editing programmes.
Claris
Place the Claris translators in your Claris folder in the system folder. if you don't have one just copy over the whole folder. These help to increase the number of file formats you can work with.
Double click on Tools to see options.
This version cannot save in CMYK format, but this option will be available shortly.
Check out the Memory option under EDIT. It informs you of how much RAM you have available. Also how much space the Multiple Undo feature is taking up.
Unlimited Multiple undo feature allows you to retrace your steps. Quit Special saves the file in a special format, that allows you to quit the programme (for example if memory is low, or the machine crashes) and reopen later in under 5 seconds for an 18Mb image.
